Environment
The environment is naturally a topic of immense discussion with climate change driving legislation that will improve insulation in both domestic and commercial properties.
At Everglade we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and this extends right through our processes from manufacturing through to on site installation. Everglade Windows is one of the first fabricators in the UK to have a BFRC "A", "B", and "C" energy rated window and Energy Saving Trust (EST) endorsement with "Energy Saving Recommended" status.
However, having these accreditations is not enough. We also organise training events and workshops to provide trade customers with the tools and skills to actively sell Energy Efficient products.
Everglade has not restricted Energy Efficiency to just windows and doors. We have embraced new energy efficient products, resulting in the development of a solar energy division, providing hot water solutions from solar panels. Panels installed at our Head Office have already generated over 1200kwh of power.
However, it isn't just about the products. As a company Everglade has embraced energy efficiency as a philosophy as part of our environmental commitment (demonstrated by the company's ISO 14001 Environmental Accreditation), from installing energy efficient sensor-driven lighting throughout the factory and offices (saving approximately 9.7 tonnes of Co2 per year) to upgrading machines and equipment to more energy efficient versions. A car sharing scheme has been introduced and proven successful at reducing employee's carbon footprint.
All our products are manufactured to comply with Energy Efficiency guidelines.
All Everglade PVC-U products are manufactured using calcium organic stabilised lead-free material. The raw materials that are used to produce our windows are carefully selected to ensure any risk to humans or the environment. Everglade Windows were among the first PVC-U windows to become lead-free, with the use of lead additives phased out as a precautionary measure and replaced with calcium organic stabilisers. It is steps like this that ensure the health of the people that manufacture windows and Everglade's customers can be assured of total safety.
In the commercial environment, we can advise specifiers on the most appropriate route to achieve ratings under the BREEAM, SBEM and Code for Sustainable Homes regulations.
